With almost a month to go before our REU starts, we would like to welcome Mia Bachtel from Texas State University – Round Rock Campus, who will be working on “Enhancing Emotion Recognition in Autism Spectrum Disorder through Integrated Machine Learning Applications and Foundational Models” under Dr. Maria Resendiz, Dr. Ting Liu, and Dr. Damian Valles🦉
Jessica Li was awarded travel funds to attend and present her paper at the IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine (BIBM) 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal
Abrar Zaki presented his REU research work – “Virtual Reality on Assessing the Motor Skills of Individuals With Autism Spectrum Disorder,” at the 2024 IEEE 15th Annual Ubiquitous Computing, Electronics & Mobile Communication Conference (UEMCON) at IBM in Yorktown Heights, NY
Hiroshi Nonaka from Soka University of America will work on an extended REU assignment in the High-Performance Engineering (HiPE) research group.
Sugru Yahaya from Purdue University will be working on an extended Project Activity 6 – Enhancing early diagnosis of autism with machine learning algorithms using postural control features.
Maya Nachega from Vanderbilt University will work on Project Activity 6, Enhancing early autism diagnosis with machine learning algorithms using postural control features.
Jessica Li from Northwestern University will work on Project Activity 5, The Development of a Disability Assessment Tool using Biosensors, Virtual Reality, and Machine Learning for People with Multiple Sclerosis.
Abrar Zaki from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will work on Project Activity 4: Virtual Reality and Machine Learning for Movement Assessment in autism spectrum disorder.
Ayesha Malik from the University of Central Florida will work on Project Activity 4: Virtual Reality and Machine Learning for Movement Assessment in autism spectrum disorder.
Ashley Yang from Arizona State University will work on Project Activity 3, an Augmented reality hand–washing tool for children with ASD.
